Blackburn striker Rigters: I was devastated over Kilmarnock breakdown

Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters admits he has mixed emotions after missing out on a move to Kilmarnock.

The Dutch U21 international was all set to move to the Scottish Premier League, only for Rovers boss Sam Allardyce to block the deal at the final minute.

Rigters said: "Blackburn and Kilmarnock had agreed a deal and I spoke to their manager Jimmy Calderwood.

"I was excited about scoring goals in the SPL, I had packed my things and I was ready to drive to Scotland when I received a call that I needed to wait.

"It was frustrating, I was ready to go but I was told that Sam Allardyce did not want me to go unless he brought in another experienced striker.

"Just after five o'clock the club told me that I could not go, I was devastated.

"But I now look at the positives. Sam Allardyce didn't want me to go and now it is up to me to break into the first team and show what I can do."
