Benevento fullback Achraf Lazaar has taken aim at former club Newcastle United.

Lazaar made the move to Serie A in the final days of the summer market.

He declared: "When I signed up with Benevento on 31 August it was the end of a nightmare.

"At Newcastle I never played and (Rafa) Benitez never gave me a chance. I was already signing with Fiorentina last year, the contracts were already ready, then Benitez started to call me to convince me to stay. It's a pity, just words, what a disappointment I came back to prove to everyone that I am still a strong football player and I have not lost anything at all."
