Joey Barton enjoyed his playing return for Newcastle United last night.
Barton made up for his late penalty miss by hitting the winning spot-kick for Newcastle in their 5-3 penalties win over Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor.
Barton fluffed from the spot four minutes from time but smashed home from 12 yards in the shoot-out after the game finished 0-0 following extra-time.
Peter Lovenkrands, Kevin Nolan, Andy Carroll and Ryan Taylor also scored as Newcastle clinched the Teresa Herrera Cup. Leon Best and Carroll both went close with headers in the first half.
