Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany has delivered an update on Julian Araujo.
The LA Galaxy fullback was all set to join Barca, but they ran out of time on deadline day.
Alemany said this morning: "Julián Araujo is a footballer who has been followed by us for a long time, interesting, and therefore the circumstances that occurred on the 31st, which are varied in terms of registration... From our point of view there was a failure in the CMS system of FIFA, posting a document, rejected it because of weight.
"In theory it shouldn't be like that, it was on time. In any case, he is a footballer who came for the second team, which also caused confusion because they thought he was coming for the first team.
"He is a footballer that we count on and solutions are being sought: via an appeal that will be filed with the CAS for the registration because we understand that we did it on time; and secondly, in the event that it is not accepted because objectively, he entered 18 seconds late, since the player must play for a team, something that we have already worked on with his agent, during these five months and then join the squad of Barça Atlètic."
