Atletico Madrid scout Eric Olhats says they were aware Luis Suarez was keen on joining Juventus.

Suarez left Barcelona for Atletico last week and scored twice on debut in Sunday's victory over Granada.

Olhats told Bein Sports: "Yes, there were contacts with Juve but in this environment it's like that. The agents go to the right and to the left and depending on the sports and financial career plans, we have earned the right to have him among us and that is very good for various reasons.

"For the quality of the player, for the DNA he has, in line with Atlético de Madrid, he's very good for us. It is essential that there is a desire on the part of the player, with set objectives that suit him.

"He has the grinta, we present it more, but he also has quality. When we look at his stats, in terms of goals and assists, everything he has achieved previously, he will make a considerable contribution."
