Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie wants Arsene Wenger to prove their ambition before he considers committing to a new contract.
The 28-year-old has told pals in Holland he feels the Gunners squad is not strong enough to mount a serious challenge in the Premier League and Champions League this summer, says the Daily Star.
Wenger brought in a host of new players in the transfer window, headed by £15m Alex Chamberlain, £10.5m Gervinho and £10m Mikel Arteta.
But his spending, totalling £50m, was around £15m less than he brought in by selling ten players, and he also sent six out on loan, including Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson and Carlos Vela.
Now in his eighth season at Arsenal, Van Persie has just an FA Cup winner's medal to show for all his time at the club.
