Arsenal are lining up a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The Sunday Times says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was dealt a huge double blow last week when midfield duo Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta were both ruled out for the foreseeable future.
The Frenchman is aware of his growing shortage of central midfielders and has earmarked compatriot Sissoko as a main target.
Sissoko, 25, has been a key figure in Alan Pardew side's revival, which has seen them recover from a dreadful start to the new season.
Pardew is unlikely to welcome Arsenal's interest and is certain to rebuff any bid to lure Sissoko away from St James' Park in the new year.
