Brazilian defender Alex has signed a new long-term deal with Chelsea.
The 27-year old Brazil international penned a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge, pledging his future to the club he joined in 2004.
Alex said he was delighted to have secured more time with the Blues and is looking to get back into the first team as soon as possible.
"I am very happy to start again to train and feel no pain, and to sign for four more years," said Alex.
"It was easy to decide to sign and now I hope to get back to playing well."
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti was happy to see the centre-half sign and is excited about the prospect of having Alex fit.
"I am very happy that Alex has signed a new contract with the club," Ancelotti told the club's official website. "He is just returning from injury and surgery but he is a player I know well.
"I am familiar with all of his fantastic qualities, so I am delighted he will be with us for another four years."
