Aguirre blasts Atletico Madrid fans for targeting Cleber, Ibanez

Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre has hit out at home fans after last night's 3-0 victory Levante.

Aguirre was furious with the Vicente Calderon crowd after they targeted his two players - Cleber Santana and Pablo Ibanez - throughout the game. Ibanez continues to be booed after being linked with a move to Real Madrid over a year ago.

"I understand the fans whistles when the team or a decision by the coach is wrong, I think it's part of the game, but when it's personalised, it is unfair, because the kids are doing the best they can," rapped Aguirre.

"I never saw a bad pass from them or a bad statement. This is the past, but Pablo has apologized and has dismissed the people who put him in this position. Cleber's greatest sin is that Atletico went looking for a Brazilian and brought him back. I cannot identify any reason for the reaction and I think it's unfair.

"We need the fans. Four matches are at home and six away. And those four we need to win. We need to gain many points to reach our targets."

Simao and a double from Diego Forlan clinched the points for Atletico.
