A-League 2009/10 preview – North Queensland Fury
The biggest name to join the A-League landed in North Queensland and is ready to lead the new franchise in 2009/10.
Former England and Liverpool star Robbie Fowler has easily created the most hype leading into the fifth A-League season and he if he can keep himself fit, expect the Fury to be a scoring force this season.
Ian Ferguson has put together a fair squad but will rely on Fowler’s goal scoring exploits to win them games and if he can be quelled or is out injured, then the team may struggle.
Besides Fowler, there are no big-name signings, rather some interesting additions including former youth star David Williams who has signed on loan from Danish club Brondby and Daniel McBreen from York City in England.
However, it may be a case of a champion team overcoming a team of champions (fellow newcomer Gold Coast United) if Ferguson can instil his game plan and the tenacity that he showed in a brilliant playing career with Scottish giants Rangers.
