Zenit set to swoop for Arsenal's Arshavin

Russian Premier League outfit Zenit St Petersburg are set to swoop for Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin.

Reports suggest that the 29-year old has become uncomfortable in London and Zenit are hoping he will return to Petrovsky Stadium where he made his name during an 11-year stint.

Zenit sporting director Igor Komeev insists that the Russia international would always have a place at the club but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed the player would not be moving anytime soon.

"With Arshavin it is very simple - we would always welcome him back to the club whether that is now or in the future," Komeev said.

Wenger added: "He will not leave, I'm very happy with Arshavin. As far as I know, he and his wife are happy in London. I'm really happy with him.

"He is a great player. He is going through a period that's a bit difficult at the moment but he works very hard in training and I'm desperate to keep him."
