Ajax fans gave Manchester United signing Donny van de Beek a passionate send-off last night in Amsterdam.
Banned from stadiums due to coronavirus, Ajax supporters were unable to give Van de Beek a proper farewell ahead of his departure for United.
However, after last night's Nations League defeat to Italy, fans from Ajax rallied outside the Johan Cruijff ArenA to serenade Van de Beek.
Van de Beek was received by a group of supporters, who welcomed him in song, lit torches and held up a banner with the text 'Donny, one of us'.
“Boys, thank you for standing here," responded the midfielder.
"That really touches me a lot, you may know that. This is really appreciated guys.
“I hope that supporters will soon be welcome in the stadiums again. I would like to say goodbye to you in a crowded ArenA."
Of Donny dit geïmproviseerde afscheid iets vond? Absoluut! Check dit dankwoordje maar. En je ziet ook gewoon dat het Van de Beek iets doet. Succes in Manchester, Ajacied! #ajaxpic.twitter.com/LRT9wzhdOT — Ajax Life (@ajaxlife) September 7, 2020
