Wolves face FA battle to keep hold of Thelwell

Wolves face a battle to keep hold of football chief Kevin Thelwell.

The Daily Mail says Thelwell is set to be a candidate for the Football Association's soon-to-be vacant role as technical director.

The 44-year-old will be considered for the position, which is being vacated by Dan Ashworth - who is joining Brighton.

Thelwell is currently sporting director at Molineux, where he has also held the roles as academy manager and head of recruitment. He has also held administrative roles at Derby County.

The FA are accelerating their search for Ashworth's replacement after the deadline for applications elapsed on Tuesday night.
