Wolves chiefs encouraged in Lopetegui talks

Premier League side Wolves are closing in on the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach.

The Spanish manager is presently out of work, but is intrigued by the Wolves job.

Lopetegui, an ex-Spain and Real Madrid coach, was slightly reluctant to take the job at first, as his father is unwell.

However, the Express and Star suggests that talks are progressing, with Wolves confident they have gotten their man.

A deal could even be announced before the World Cup, which would ease fans' fears.

However, Lopetegui is unlikely to take charge of any official matches until after the tournament concludes and the Premier League resumes on Boxing Day.
