Wilshere: Arsenal can now match Chelsea

Jack Wilshere suggests Arsenal has a good enough group of players to be genuine Premiership contenders.

The Gunners improved to finish third in the Premier League last term but were in the end no match for Chelsea who finished 12 points clear of the north Londoners and eight ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

As Arsenal prepare for the 2015/16 season, midfielder Wilshere told Sky Sports News HQ that Arsene Wenger, with one or two more signings, has at his disposal a group with the quality to launch a solid title assault.

"We feel we have a squad that can match Chelsea," he said.

"The Premier League's a tough league, so we need as many players as possible.

"You've got the FA Cup, the League Cup, players go away on international breaks and players pick up injuries throughout the season, so it's important we have the players to come in for that.

"After you win your first trophy, it makes you hungry for more, and it was great to win the FA Cup again last season.

"We were great throughout the competition and especially dominated the final which shows the confidence we have at the moment."
