Wilshere admits England want bragging rights in Britain

England midfielder Jack Wilshere admits there was plenty of emphasis placed on their friendly with the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

The Three Lions drew 0-0 with the Irish at the Aviva Stadium and despite the fact it was a tune-up for next weekend's Euro2016 qualifier with Slovenia, Wilshere suggests there was some significance to the contest.

"It's the same special feeling when you pull on the shirt for your country, especially in big games like this against tough opposition," he said.

"It's the same against Scotland and Wales in the big games against the home nations. They want to have the bragging rights and they want to be the best in Britain."
