Chelsea assistant boss Ray Wilkins insists their squad is better than Real Madrid's - even with their galacticos signings Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

"What Real Madrid have done to the market does seem strange, particularly in these financial times," said the Chelsea No2. "It's a staggering amount of money but, if they wish to go that way, that's up to them. If you can afford it, you can do it. But if you look at our squad and Real Madrid's squad, even with Ronaldo and Kaka there, which one would you rather have?

"I know which one I'd rather have, all day long, and that's without us even ­buying anyone new. Our squad is far stronger."
