Andy Welsh is set to stay with Sunderland.

The Sun says Welsh is ready to carry on as Under-23 boss as a move to Wigan falters.

Welsh is wanted by old pal Warren Joyce as a sidekick in his new job, but the Championship outfit have yet to come up with a decent offer.

The pair worked together at Manchester United and Joyce would like Welsh by his side — but Latics are also keeping an eye on their budget.
