Warren Joyce has revealed that he received Jose Mourinho's best wishes upon leaving Manchester United.
The 51-year-old left his role as United's U23 coach to take up the reins at Wigan Athletic this week having been with the Red Devils since 2008.
Joyce admitted it was difficult to leave such a club but said the kind words he received from Mourinho and the other staff members made it a little easier.
"He gave me some good advice, wished me well and helped really," he told Sky Sports.
"It is just a mark of the people at a club like that. They are so helpful and I think that is why they have been so successful for a long period.
"I have had texts and calls in the last 24 hours, and even prior to it. It is a humbling experience when people take the time out to ring you and now I am just looking forward to the next four years really."
