Connor Wickham wants a long-term future with Sunderland.
The England U21 international striker started against Everton at the weekend and produced his best performance since being recalled from his loan spell with Leeds United.
"I just need to play football first and foremost and I haven't had that here until now," said Wickham, who has played in three of the last four games.
"The manager called me back with 10 games to go and finally I'm getting a chance.
"The ball is in my court now. I think that was probably my best performance since I've come back, but also the whole team's as well."
