West Ham United continued their excellent preseason preparations with a victory over Mainz via a penalty shootout.

The win confirms the Hammers as the winners of the Betway Cup in Austria.

The game ended 1-1 in normal time, but it was the Hammers who prevailed 7-6 in a penalty shootout.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini put out a strong team, with Marko Arnautovic, Jack Wilshere and Michail Antonio all getting a game.

New signings Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko did not take part.

The Hammers are hoping for a much more successful Premier League campaign compared to last season.

They have spent heavily in the summer and are targeting a European place.
