West Ham United football chief Gianluca Nani is confident Gianfranco Zola's Chelsea background won't work against him with Upton Park fans.

"It would have been worse for our fans if he was a former Tottenham or Millwall player," said Nani. "The rivalry with Chelsea is not as fierce as with Millwall or Spurs.

"Zola is a star in England. He is for English football like Roberto Baggio in Italy - an idol. It is not a problem if he has played for Chelsea. I am sure that our fans will give him a great welcome."
