West Ham have received a boost in their interest in Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.

The Hammers see Alvarez as a potential replacement for wantaway skipper Declan Rice.

Borussia Dortmund were favourites to sign Alvarez, but Sky Deutschland says talks with Ajax have stalled.

This has led to an opening for West Ham.

The Hammers are keen on the Mexico international, with Ajax seeking £35-40m to sell.
