West Ham United midfielder Stewart Downing admits he was surprised by his England recall.
Downing won the last of his 34 caps in Roy Hodgson's first match in charge in May 2012 and he is delighted that his fears were unfounded.
"I didn't think I would be picked again for England," admitted the 30?year-old. "I thought that was it, so to be selected now is a big thing for me. I'm looking to be involved and, hopefully, there'll be a few more caps in the future."
