West Brom midfielder Phillips: Allardyce game plan worked for Liverpool draw

West Brom midfielder Matt Phillips was delighted with their point at Liverpool on Sunday.

Phillips was made captain for the day by manager Sam Allardyce.

He said: "We had a game plan and we stuck to it. They are the champions for a reason and they play some great football but we stayed in the game after going one down and Semi [Ajayi] popped up with a great header.

"When you come to the big sides you have to work hard first and foremost and we got our rewards. We frustrated them and we only needed one chance to get something from the game. It was a great header and i thought Semi's overall performance was excellent."

On Allardyce's impact, Phillips added: "We are working hard under the manager and we are now looking for a bit of consistency. The manager has come in with fresh ideas and now we want to put points on the board."
