West Bromwich Albion full-back Cristian Gamboa is on the verge of joining Scottish champions Celtic on a permanent deal, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old was reportedly in Glasgow for a medical on Monday when he told Sky: "I cannot say anything now, so we wait and see.

"I hope [by] the end of the day we have something."

The Costa Rica international joined the Baggies from Norwegian club Rosenborg following an impressive World Cup in 2014.

However, Gamboa has managed only 11 league appearances for Tony Pulis' side during the past two seasons and is now set to link up with Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.
