Wenger hopeful of title pursuit for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger hopes his team is good enough to challenge for the Premier League title in 2014/15.

The Gunners are currently in New York preparing for the weekend's friendly with Thierry Henry's New York Red Bulls which gave Wenger a chance to speak about the upcoming campaign with reports in the local area.

The Frenchman felt that Arsenal's quality was good enough to be a title threat in the new season but stopped short of suggesting whether or not the north Londoners were a genuine premiership chance.

"We always have high expectations but we haven't always fulfilled them," Wenger said.

"We are very ambitious and last season we went 128 days at the top of the Premier League but were left frustrated because we couldn't win it.

"Overall we were very consistent, we won the FA Cup and we want to win more next season. But the level of competition is very high and it's very difficult to predict how much better other teams will be.

"We just have to ensure we have good preparation and hopefully we will have a good chance to win the title."
