Wellington Phoenix to secure trio to new deals this week

Wellington Phoenix are close to securing three senior players to new deals.

It is understood World Cup hero Paston, in-form right fullback Troy Hearfield and reserve goalkeeper Reece Crowther are close to signing contract extensions to stay at Westpac Stadium, and there could even be an announcement before Friday night's home match against North Queensland Fury, says the Dominion Post.

"It's progressing well. I think the boys we have identified that we want to keep, we're very, very close," Nix chief Tony Pignata said yesterday.

"Hopefully we can finish off their contract negotiations later this week and make some announcements."
