We have to give Tottenham's Kane 'room to breathe' - Man Utd's Rooney

England skipper Wayne Rooney believes it is necessary not to suffocate goalscoring gem Harry Kane.

The Tottenham striker is the talk of the town as he prepares for his possible senior international debut with the Three Lions who clash with Lithuania in Euro2016 qualifying at Wembley on Friday night.

?Kane has warranted his call-up from manager Roy Hodgson after plundering 19 Premier League goals and 29 in all competitions this term for Spurs but his Manchester United counterpart Rooney has urged caution before everybody gets too carried away.

?"He hasn't played a full season in the Premier League yet, although he is doing really well," Rooney said.

"I think we have to, you know, give him room to breathe, really, rather than smothering him and demanding a lot of him at an early age when he hasn't played for England yet.

"He is still in his first season in the Premier League, so I think we should give him time, let him continue doing what he is doing. I think that is the best way to get the best out of him."?
