On Friday, Varane visited the Valdebebas training ground after his move to Manchester United had been announced. In a formal setting, Varane said his farewell to his Real Madrid teammates.

The France defender also thanked president Florentino Perez and coach Carlo Ancelotti, who he won the Champions League with during the Italian's previous spell in charge.
