Villareal goalkeeper Reina: I really don't want to retire

Villareal goalkeeper Pepe Reina admits he wants to play again next season.

Reina will turn 42 next August and is eager to play on.

He told Il Corriere dello Sport: “I don't really want to leave football. At almost 42 years old I feel great and I always like to play. I still want to learn. My contract ends in June, but I would like to continue for another year.

"I have to sit down and talk to Villarreal. I feel very happy and eager to continue playing."

The goalkeeper also stated: “The four clubs that have marked me the most; Barça formed me as a person and launched me in La Liga; With Liverpool I reached the peak of my career; In Naples is where I felt most loved , I had especially fun on and off the field, but the regret of not having won the Scudetto remains; and at Villarreal I felt like a footballer for the first time and it is the last stop of my career ."
