Aston Villa signing Joe Cole isn't shutting the door on an England recall.
The midfielder made the switch from West Ham United last month.
"I can't wait to start pre-season in a couple of weeks and enjoy it. It's a massive club, Villa.
"As an Englishman and a player who loves playing for England, you'll always have one eye on the squad but I've got to perform better than the likes of Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley and all these great young players we've got now. It's a great challenge for me."
