Aston Villa signing Carles Gil admits he draws inspiration from Manchester City midfielder David Silva.

Both players came through at Valencia.

Gil said: "He's such a huge player - the best in Europe. We can't compare to each other.

"He's followed a path to the Premier League and I'm on that path now. I'm excited by it."
