Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is delighted with the form of Stiliyan Petrov.

He told AVTV: "Villa fans are seeing the best of Stiliyan now.

"He is remarkably consistent. I think he was showing that form at the back end of last season. It was the sort of form I knew he was capable of from his days at Celtic.

"I think he has carried it on this season too. Every game he has shown ability and consistency of performance. He has stood out.

"When I see a confident Petrov I feel better because I know what he can do.

"He is playing a different role to the one he had at Parkhead but he is doing remarkably well.

"He is performing in games and influencing them too. That's the big, big thing. The crowd have responded too."
