Villa boss Lambert: £1M Lerner Acorns donation incredible

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert admits he and club owner Randy Lerner have had to work hard to turn things around inside Villa Park.

Lambert was under orders to slash the wage bill as Lerner ended his big spending from the successful Martin O'Neill era.

"A lot of work has been unseen," said Lambert. "I'm not going to talk to you about that. "From a football point of view Randy has done so much, but he has done so much for the area as well - with the Acorns charity."

Lerner donated £1m to the Birmingham based Acorns Hospice out of his own pocket.

"He doesn't take any credit but remains private. The £1m donation to Acorns was incredible."
