Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic begins preseason training this week.

The Sun says the Serbian centre-back has not played since damaging cruciate knee ligaments in the Champions League clash with Basel in December. But he has made rapid progress with his rehab over recent weeks.

So staff at United's Carrington training base have made plans for him to start his fitness sessions before his team-mates get back from their summer hols. The Red Devils begin pre-season training on Monday with Euro 2012 players getting an extended break.
