Victor Orta is delighted to take the sporting director's job at Sevilla.

Orta succeeds Monchi, who has left for Aston Villa this month.

Former Leeds chief Orta was Monchi's assistant at during the latter's first spell in charge of Sevilla.

Orta said at his Sevilla presentation: "I have had a very close relationship with Monchi. We have always had a relationship of friendship and tranquility. The distance has meant that we don't see each other anymore.

"We have lived together for a long time. I have worked very hard in the ten years away from Sevilla. I have worked a lot. Being someone who had that command in sports management. I have influence from Monchi and also from ten years away from here, with clubs with budgets and ambitions similar to those of Sevilla.

"It is the line of continuity of this club. I want to give my added value. The demand has not changed one iota. It is not easy. I take on the challenge with courage. I am a brave person. I am going to give the best of myself."
