Vardy and Kane could not make Leicester team, now they are England starters!

Harry Kane has recalled how he and Jamie Vardy could not even get into Leicester City's first team three years ago.

The Tottenham striker spent time on loan with the Foxes in 2013 and neither he nor Premier League-winning Vardy were able to force their way into the starting XI in the East Midlands.

However, times have changed remarkably as Kane gets set to star for England at Euro2016 with Vardy either waiting in the wings or accompanying up front in France this summer.

"It just goes to show that you can never stop working hard and never give up," Kane told the Daily Mirror.

"At the time, me and Jamie couldn't even get in the Leicester team.

"Since then we have both knuckled down. We carried on working hard and believed in ourselves. You only have to see where we are now.

"I think it's great for other young players coming through the system. When times are down, keep believing, keep working hard and things will pick up.

"You want young players to believe that - just as I did."
