Jan Van Winckel is being linked with Chris Wilder's manager job at Sheffield United.
The Belgian, formerly No2 to Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille, was appointed to the Blades board in December 2017 by Prince Abdullah, who was then joint owner with Kevin McCabe, reports the Examiner.
He is Prince Abdullah's footballing confidante, also serving on the board at the Saudi's Belgian club Beerschot, and the Blades owner praised his eye for talent last year.
“He's one of the best people I know and has a good eye for talent," he told Sky Sports.
“He told me to buy Yaya Toure for Al-Hilal for $800,000 when he was in Belgium before he went to Barcelona and Man City.
“We will use him in the club but Chris Wilder is the face of the club and his decisions on the first-team are the decisions we'll go with.
“He's busy with Beerschot and I can't think he can spend a lot of time in Sheffield but he'll be involved."
