Van Gaal has given me 'massive responsibility' at Man Utd - Giggs

Ryan Giggs has heaped praise on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal for showing so much faith in him.

The Welsh great was appointed as van Gaal's assistant when the Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford last summer and admits it has been a brilliant experience working alongside the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich so far.

"I have learned loads from him," Giggs said. "Just seeing him first hand has been a massive learning experience for me.

"The manager has given me that platform to go out and coach every day. And I am enjoying it thoroughly. He didn't know me before I met him, but we instantly hit it off.

"And he has given me massive responsibility from the start. I have worked hard in coaching just as I did as a player. He recognises that."

In terms of his ideas for the future, Giggs was happy to continue on his current role and seeing where it takes him.

"There are no immediate plans. I am really enjoying what I am doing, working under Louis and trying to get better," he added.

United commence the new Premier League season with a home fixture against Tottenham on Saturday.
