Former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has rapped chairman Daniel Levy for ignoring him.

Van der Vaart has admitted urging Levy to move for Hakim Ziyech before the Ajax midfielder signed with Chelsea last week.

He told Championat: "Yes, how stupid! I really love him as a football player. Watching Ziyech play is a pleasure.

"He excels in everything, both in assists and in scoring goals. But he is now going to Chelsea.

"He (Levy) just always defends the interests of the club. I've always had a good relationship with him, even though we sometimes argued. If we meet now, we'll give each other a hug."
