Valencia sports director Mateu Alemany says there were never any doubts about the future of coach Marcelino.

After a shaky season, Marcelino has guided the club to the Copa del Rey final and also Champions League qualification.

Alemany said, "The club is the club and we work with a very clear organisation, at the top of that organisation is (Peter) Lim and everything is done from consensus.

"The conviction was absolute on the part of all, Marcelino had to lead this project."

On the Copa final, he added: "I think that Barça is favourite, in recent years they have absolutely dominated but it will be a different game."
