Valencia captain Dani Parejo admits he remains in touch with former coach Marcelino.

Marcelino was controversially sacked by Valencia early into the season after questioning management's transfer work.

Parejo revealed, “I have a relationship with Marcelino and I talk to him frequently, I don't hide.

"We made a good friendship. We are living beautiful moments and others less."

Frustrating for Marcelino's supporters was he'd led Valencia to victory in the Copa del Rey last season.

Parejo added: "It was incredible, really. For me they were very special days, before and after. The three happiest football days of my life."
