Departing Fenerbahce defender Diego Lugano could be on the move to Fiorentina.

Uruguay coach Oscar Washington Tabarez revealed: "He's a leader, a player who has strength, personality and charisma, able to play in any competition, and at any level.

"I know that it will not be easy to get Lugano because he has many offers from clubs in Spain and England, but for the Viola, for years at the top of Italian football, as an experienced component, he would be perfect to complete their defensive package.

"Days ago I was having dinner with Pelè and he complimented Diego Lugano for his play."
