‘Unreal' Arsenal seniors helped U21s achieve promotion – Pleguezuelo

Arsenal U21 skipper Julio Pleguezuelo has credited the senior players of the club in helping the youth squad achieve promotion to Division One.

The likes of Joel Campbell, Santi Cazorla, Calum Chambers and Francis Coquelin featured for the U21 team in their 3-1 play-off final victory over Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday which has sent the Gunners up to the top division of the U21 Premier League competition.

"Their technical level is unreal," Pleguezuelo told Arsenal Player.

"They really helped us.

"Joel Campbell was offensively good. You can see the difference between first-team players and under-21s so it is a good reason to keep going and try to be as good as them.

"It was a tough game. Aston Villa are a really good side, and they got in front first. The lads kept going and we got the result at the end so we are very, very happy.

"We said in the dressing room that we knew we were going to score goals so we just had to defend as well as we can and let the guys do the rest up front."
