Two Conte meetings but still no deal for Chelsea captain Terry

John Terry's sparkling career with Chelsea appears to be over.

The 35-year-old defender is out of contract in the summer and as of yet, has not been offered an extension with the Blues, meaning he may have played his last match for the club.

Terry was sent off late in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Sunderland which will see him miss the midweek trip to Liverpool and Sunday's home clash with champions Leicester City having picked up a red card earlier in the season.

According to the Daily Express, Terry has already held two meetings with incoming manager Antonio Conte but the Italian told him the decision will be made by the club board, while the board are of the belief that Conte is to make the call - the uncertainty prompting the captain to look elsewhere.

There is plenty of talk that Terry is set to accept an enormously lucrative offer from the Chinese Super League where he would link up with former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson at Shanghai SIPG.

Suggestions that he could move to North America to play MLS have also been made but the fact no club is willing to make him a Designated Player indicates that perhaps the big-money shift to the Far East may be a more likely scenario.

With that being the case, Terry has played for the final time for Chelsea, bringing to a close a career which started in 1998 and included over 650 appearances at club level on the way to four Premier League titles, five FA Cups, one Champions League title, one Europa League trophy, and three League Cups.
