Joey Barton has made it clear that he wants to continue playing football at the highest level.
The 32-year-old midfielder is without a club following his departure from QPR at the end of last season and was close to making a move across London to West Ham United.
However, a potential transfer to the Hammers fell over at the last minute as the club bowed to fan pressure and scuppered the deal.
Despite that slap in the face, former Newcastle United, Manchester City and Marseille midfielder Barton will not give up the fight as he strives to find a new home where he can continue his extensive career which kicked off with City back in 2002.
On Wednesday night, Barton answered plenty of questions from fans on Twitter regarding his future which he admits is still very much up in the air.
Regarding a possible move to Sunderland, Barton said:
Not a chance mate. Never, ever, ever. Not after my 4 yrs on Tyneside. https://t.co/IwVUMsT8Qv

Whilst I'm gutted I will pick myself up. Go again. And whoever I sign for will get a player who will give his all for the cause.
