Fabio Paratici, the managing director of Tottenham Hotspur, may have to leave his position after Fifa extended his suspension "to have worldwide effect."
In January, his former team, Juventus, was found guilty of false accounting, and Paratici received a 30-month ban from Italian football.
Before joining Tottenham in June 2021, the 50-year-old was managing director and sporting director at Juve.
Spurs said they were "urgently seeking further clarification from Fifa".
The Premier League club said in a statement that the decision had been taken "with no advance notice to any of the parties involved".
Fifa's decision has been appealed by both Paratici and Juventus.
