Tottenham are making a late move for Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.

The Daily Mail says a deal had been agreed in principle by West Ham for the Benfica midfielder but Tottenham expressed an interest on Thursday afternoon and talks are taking place about a potential 18-month loan switch to north London instead.

Tottenham have discussed a loan for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek but have other options.

They are likely to bring a striker in during the January window due to the injury that has been suffered by Harry Kane.

Kane is likely to be out until April after picking up a hamstring injury that requires surgery to correct.
