Tottenham star Son set for training return today

Tottenham star Son Heung-min is set to return to training with the Premier League club on Wednesday December 14th.

The South Korean had time off after his exploits at the World Cup.

The Korea Republic team was eliminated in the last 16, losing to Brazil.

Son had to play at the World Cup with a face mask, as a result of an eye fracture he suffered while playing for Spurs in the Champions League against Marseille.

The attacker will be looking to decompress after his World Cup exit, as he admitted that he was disappointed at how his team played in their final game against Brazil.

"I can only apologise to our fans for not living up to their expectations," said Son at the time.

"We did our best but I think we played a very difficult game.

"Still, there is no doubt that all the players battled proudly, devoted themselves and worked hard to get this far. The players and staff really did their best to prepare for this match, so I hope you understand."

Then he posted on Instagram: "I am writing this to thank you for all your support, support, and interest. During four years, I have tried many things and ran forward towards my dream.

"Not every time there were good moments, but I think those bad moments made us stronger and made the national team we are. We were able to overcome every moment with your constant support from behind!

"Our players worked so hard where they couldn't be seen, and I thought it was an honour to be part of the South Korea team, and my body was broken. I believed that we could definitely go higher, there were regrets but absolutely no regrets.

"I believe that the unforgettable World Cup was created because all the players and staff, including me, tried every second of every day. In addition, as a Korean citizen before becoming a football player, I was able to feel once again how happy I am.

"I really appreciate all the love you guys have sent. From now on, I will do my best to make Korea brighter, not only myself, but also the Korean football team. I love and thank you Korea."
